What Sets Us Apart

There are literally thousands of lobby firms in Washington, DC. Almost all of them will represent any client on any issue provided that the price is right.

At The Clark Group, we approach things differently. Because we focus exclusively on projects that produce environmental benefits, our firm has developed significant environmental expertise and has earned a reputation for environmental excellence. This means that when we represent your interests, you don’t have to worry about who we might have represented on the Hill or before a federal agency the day before.

This higher standard of representation has also allowed us to assemble a senior team of former Hill and Executive Branch officials who would not work for just any company. From the former Chief of Staff for the Chair of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee to the former Associate Director of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, The Clark Group team brings bipartisan expertise and credibility necessary to successfully represent our clients’ interests on Capitol Hill and with federal agencies.

Some of Our Initiatives

Federal Tax Code Changes for Brownfield Investments: In 2002 The Clark Group was retained to seek changes to the federal tax code to encourage investment in revitalization of contaminated real estate. Our firm designed a national campaign that enlisted the support of a diverse array of interests including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, National Taxpayers Union, U.S. Conference of Mayors, and Environmental Defense as well as selected local and regional environmental and business organizations. By engaging these interest groups and by working with supportive members of Congress from both sides of the aisle, we were able to secure a $200 million change to the federal tax code during a single term of Congress.

Federal Funding for Environmental Compliance Systems: Working with the Department of Defense Appropriations subcommittees, The Clark Group helped a private sector client secure critical funding to help deploy state-of-the-art environmental compliance systems at defense installations across the country. These systems have improved environmental performance and helped reduce costs at multiple defense installations.

Federal Climate Change and Energy Policy: The Clark Group is presently assisting a number of clients on climate change and renewable energy policy initiatives, from low-carbon ethanol and renewable portfolio standards, to farm-based energy programs and development of federal climate change policy.
