Our Expertise

Climate Offset Policy: The Clark Group is at the leading edge of climate offset policy development nationally. We have established environmental, agricultural and political partnerships to further policies that are both environmentally sound and good for Rural America.

Climate Market Development: The Clark Group is helping national organizations and others develop value-based carbon and greenhouse gas (GHG) business strategies. Our experience with key policymakers gives our clients the edge in carbon market positioning and development.

Climate Strategy: We help clients position investment and business strategy to take advantage of emerging climate and renewable energy markets. We provide due diligence and policy expertise that propels clients to the forefront of emerging markets and technologies.

What Sets Us Apart

Our climate team is a strong new “policy hybrid” consisting of climate, agriculture, energy and federal legislative policy experience. Our team has been working in the details of the climate policy for years and can provide not only a thorough understanding of the pending climate law, but also how it will intersect with agricultural, energy and economic policies. Furthermore, because of our extensive work with the nation’s top agricultural producers, we have a tremendous network to “ground truth” policy assumptions.

More than just policy experts, our team has demonstrated success in creating and maintaining strategic alliances. We were able to create the first ever cross commodity agriculture climate working group. Our unprecedented ability to tap and empower the leadership of the agriculture industry has re-shaped the way farm groups today are engaging in the climate issue. Additionally, we have created working group alliances between major environmental groups and agricultural leaders.

In our work with other agriculture-based clients, we have also been an integral part of the ag-carbon measurement, monitoring and verification issues as well as creating carbon aggregation scoping and business plans for those in the industry interested in providing carbon credits to the mandatory market once it arrives.

Some of Our Initiatives

A National Climate Market Policy for Agriculture: We are working with agricultural, environmental and business interests to craft a carbon market policy that generates additional income for farmers and ranchers, directs further investment into renewable energy and creates wealth for Rural America.

National Carbon Market Working Group: This group of national agricultural leaders is leading the national agricultural community in carbon policy development. This group is responding to the rapidly changing political dynamic by “ground-truthing” policy initiatives and offering feedback to Capital Hill as well as key members of the NGO community and other stakeholders.

Science-Based Best Management Practices: We are working with the Nicholas Institute at Duke University and others to promote an agricultural offset market that is measurable and verifiable. This provides a “safe haven” for offset buyers as well as a value-based market for sellers.

Low Carbon Fuels Strategies and Alliances: Our staff was among the first to recognize and promote low-carbon fuel opportunities for ethanol and biodiesel. We advise and represent individual companies as well as identify investment opportunities that are tied to federal policy.

Renewable Energy Policy Development: Working with clients that include public and private organizations, we have spearheaded efforts to promote initiatives that include Renewable Fuels Standards as well as a Renewable Portfolio Standard. It is our belief that we should depend on the Midwest, not the Mideast for our energy sources.
