Selected 2006 Achievements
- Completed national "Citizens Guide" to the National Environmental Policy Act on behalf of the White House Council on Environmental Quality.
- Helped secure $1.2 million in Department of Energy funding for installation of E85 fuel (ethanol) infrastructure at gas stations in the Midwest.
- Completed a Programmatic Environmental Analysis for the US-VISIT program in the Department of Homeland Security on policy-level changes to immigration and border management processes.
- Selected by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as part of a team with Gulf South Research Corporation to develop Programmatic Environmental Analysis of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative.
- Secured $180,000 for salmon stream restoration through the EPA 319 grant program.
- Selected by the Federal Emergency Management Agency to develop new environmental and historic preservation regulations.
- Secured and managed grant funding from the EPA Clean School Bus Program USA to the three school districts of Bibb, Houston and Monroe counties in Georgia for school bus retrofits to reduce emissions of air pollutants.
- Assisted in the development of baseline data for activities related to environmental planning and historic preservation at the Department of Homeland Security.
- Developed an environmental assessment of safe and effective alternatives for disposal in the New Orleans area of waste debris from Hurricane Katrina.
Selected 2005 Achievements:
- Selected by the White House Council on Environmental Quality to prepare a national "Citizens Guide" to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) " the act providing for assessment of the potential environmental impacts of federal actions.
- Partnership between Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc. and The Clark Group selected by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Bureau of Land Management to oversee environmental review for the new Las Vegas International Airport.
- Helped secure provision in the federal Energy Bill providing funding for creation of statewide associations to encourage development of renewable agriculture-based products.
- Spearheaded efforts to create the Sheridan Community Land Trust " the first fully integrated land trust in the nation focusing on agricultural preservation, open space preservation, historic preservation, and creation of affordable housing.
- Helped secure $4.5 million from the federal Highway Bill for deployment of clean-air technology in Georgia.
- Helped secure $2 million in federal funding for pilot-scale deployment of environmental management systems at U.S. Army facilities.
Selected 2004 Achievements:
- Developed and helped establish the Middle-Georgia Clean Air Coalition, a partnership of seven counties and 13 cities in middle Georgia. The coalition"s mission is to develop and promote strategies for smart-growth and efforts to improve air quality in the region.
- Developed and secured passage of major federal tax legislation encouraging investment in redevelopment of brownfield sites. To build congressional support for this legislation, The Clark Group created an extensive coalition of NGO supporters including the U.S. Conference of Mayors, National Taxpayers Union, U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Environmental Defense.
- Secured passage of legislation through the 2004 Washington State Legislature transferring a $1.5 million piece of state property to the Tulalip Tribes for development of a regional anaerobic digester and related agricultural-products business park.
- Completed feasibility study for construction of a regional biogas facility. Secured funding for the environmental analysis and design/construction of the facility.
Selected 2003 Achievements:
- Convened four national roundtables on NEPA for the Council on Environmental Quality,
- Drafted the Department of Homeland Security"s regulations implementing NEPA.
- Assisted the U.S. Army with creation of new sustainability models to minimize conflicts between national testing ranges and encroaching development,
- Helped form the Snohomish Basin BioGas Partnership to improve water quality, sustain family farms, and assist with salmon recovery in the Snohomish watershed. Members in the partnership include the Tulalip Tribes of Washington State, the Washington State Dairy Federation, the Sno-Sky Agricultural Alliance, and Northwest Chinook Recovery.
